Bus Boycotts and Segregation

We explore buses and transportation as centers of movement-building and activism. Segregated bus systems were deemed unconstitutional in 1961, only after very persistent efforts by hundreds of freedom fighters who put their life on the line as they demanded for desegregated bus facilities. South Seattle resident and educator, Georgia McDade, grew up in Munroe, Louisiana. Yuko Kodama rides along with her as she shares her experience with a segregated bus system. Here’s her dispatch.
