April 4, 2018 - 11:25 am

This KBCS series focuses on the impacts of locking up the women in our community. The following two segments highlight the experiences of Shontina Vernon: a local artist who first became incarcerated at age 10.

Part 1 – We hear from Shontina Vernon, a local artist, about her experiences of being incarcerated, for the first time, at age 10.

Part 2 – We continue the discussion with Shontina about her experience in the prison system and how certain people inspired her to make better decisions.
