Jean Geiger

Jean Geiger

Having been exposed to lots of music across many genres, I remember being at the Smithsonian Folk Festival in Washington DC in the early ’70s as a defining experience in my discovery of bluegrass and traditional Americana and international folk music. I also love listening to swing, vintage, and gypsy jazz music.

My DJ career began hosting an early, renaissance, and baroque music show at a college radio station in Virginia. I began co-hosting a folk music show on KBCS in 1997 and currently co-host Folksounds.

You can usually find me at live music events or in my kitchen, either baking or strummin’ on the ol’ banjo. I play clawhammer banjo with a contra dance band around the Seattle area.
