Eating Disorders

Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness, including suicide.  We feature a series on the many faces of eating disorders in our communities.

Episode 1 – Dr. Neeru Bakshi of the Eating Recovery Center of Washington describes the varying ranges and types of eating disorders.

Episode 2 –  South Sound teen, Kylie Charney and her mother Christina Charney Harrington share their family’s journey through this deadly eating disorder.

Episode 3 – Sofia, whose real identity is being protected, explains how binge eating and restrictive dieting often cycle back and forth for dieters.

Episode 4 – Sofia, whose real identity is being protected, shares her experience with clean eating or orthorexia and excessive exercise.

Episode 5 – Stacy Schilter, Clinic Director of the South Sound Emily Program shares perspective on personality types prone to eating disorders and one method of working with those recovering from an eating disorder.
