About Birds Connect Seattle

Birds Connect Seattle believes that when we protect birds, we create a healthier, more vibrant city for everyone. Founded in 1916 as the Seattle Audubon Society, they are the first conservation organization established in Washington State and one of the largest independent organizations in the Audubon network. Today more than 4,000 members and 500 dedicated volunteers make up their Seattle bird watching community.

Their work focuses on urban conservation through an antiracist and inclusive lens. The Bird-Safe Seattle initiative anchors that work — protecting and expanding the region's tree canopy, preventing bird-window collisions, and reducing harmful pesticides. Beyond conservation, they offer environmental education programs, neighborhood bird outings, community science projects, and public outreach for people of all ages.

Their service area spans greater Seattle from the city north to the King County line, south to SeaTac and Renton, east to Mercer Island, and west to the shores of Puget Sound.
