KBCS Sustainability Campaign

The KBCS Financial Sustainability Campaign is underway.

In June of 2020, Bellevue College announced that it would no longer provide supplemental cash funding to KBCS (see the original announcement). The cuts come on the heals of anticipated financial fallout stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the past, the station depended on funding from the college to balance its budget. Now, in the coming fiscal year (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021), and moving forward, KBCS must be completely self-funded.

Immediately following the announcement from Bellevue College, the station launched the KBCS Sustainability Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to add 1,000 new monthly sustaining donors to the KBCS family of supporters by June 30th, 2021 and increase the station’s revenue by $150,000 over its previous fiscal year, in order to remain financially viable.

By increasing the station’s revenue by $150,000, KBCS can close its funding gap for this fiscal year. The station’s goal of adding 1,000 new sustaining donors will help us reach this goal, and also provide a more stable source of funding moving forward into future years.

KBCS supporters are making great strides to help the station get a strong financial start to our Sustainability Campaign goal. However, there is still work to be done to close the gap in funding before June 30, 2021.
