Summer Fund Drive

The Trump Administration has sent Congress a rescissions package that would claw back already-approved funding for public media, including KBCS. These cuts would leave KBCS with a 10% gap in its budget. Our Summer Fund Drive starts Thursday, but you can help safeguard your favorite KBCS programs today. Please, donate now and thank you in advance.

Omari Salisbury of Converge Media Reflects on a Year of Covering our Community

March 19, 2021 - 1:30 pm

March 19th is the one-year anniversary of Converge Media‘s Morning Update Show.  The program started as an informational service for Seattle’s Black community during the Coronavirus outbreak.  After the murder of George Floyd,  thousands in this region sprung into a flurry of activity and demonstration demanding more police accountability and calling out racial inequities in our social systems.  Converge Media’s Co-Founder, Omari Salisbury and the Converge team worked tirelessly, recording interviews and documenting the people, atmosphere and interactions on the streets during this intense time.

KBCS’s student reporters, Fadumo Ali and Kai Le interviewed Salisbury about takeaways from the past year.
