Before you toss out old clothes, check into repairing them. King County Library System hosts a mending circle at the Bellevue branch where you can darn and mend clothing. There’s instruction, supplies, and examples of how to repair items. Sessions are every Thursday 11-1pm in Bellevue. Check out KCLS.org for details. Happy mending!
Free legal help is available at El Centro de la Raza on the second Wednesday of each month. The organization partners with the Latino/o Bar Association of Washington and the King County Bar Association to offer assistance from attorneys. Consultations cover issues ranging from immigration and family law to worker’s rights and wage claims. Bilingual attorneys and interpreters available. The next clinic runs on Wednesday May 13 at El Centro de la Raza in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood. Registration from 4-6pm and consultations 6-8pm, first come first served basis. Find out more at elcentrodelaraza.org.
Farmers markets will be popping up around the region for the spring and summer months. Opening day at Issaquah Farmers Market is May 2 from 9-2. The market will be open Saturdays through September offering freshly picked, seasonal fruits and vegetables. The market accepts EBT and SNAP, as well as SUN Bucks for children over the summer. You can learn more at Issaquahwa.gov.
