About the Film
Pig Feast is a documentary about ongoing 21st century colonialism in West Papua. The film examines heavy militarization, human rights violations, forced land grabbing, exploitation of local resources, and environmental and biodiversity destruction. Deforestation has cleared one million hectares of forest, threatening Indigenous peoples' ways of life. The film brings these realities into focus through the stories of the people living them. Why This Matters
West Papua is a part of the Pacific that many people in the United States have not had the opportunity to learn about. Yet the issues at the heart of this film connect to conversations happening everywhere. Land, forests, militarization, Indigenous rights, and community resistance — these are not distant concerns. This West Papua documentary Seattle screening is an opportunity to listen, learn, and engage in community dialogue about what is happening on the other side of the Pacific and why it matters here.
