Lila Lakehart AKA DJ Megabooty

Focused DJ wearing headphones mixes vinyl records on dual turntables, with a central mixer, in a warm, vintage-style venue.

Lila Lakehart AKA DJ Megabooty has been funking up the KBCS airwaves since 2004, and is grateful to be back behind the mic after a few years away. Their love of music and record-collecting was inspired by their father, a local jazz musician.

In college, Lila co-hosted a hip hop radio show, and their curiosity about the origins of the samples they loved led them to start collecting funk and soul records. As DJ Megabooty, Lila spins mostly 45s and full-length vinyl records. They have a lifelong passion for community media and for expanding access, especially for young people.

Join me every third Friday of the month 5-7pm as I bring the funk to the last two hours of Roots, Rock, and Soul to send you into the weekend.
