December 19, 2024 - 6:30 pm
Braddah Gomes has been a long time volunteer to KBCS hosting 3rd Saturdays for the Hawai’i Radio Connection. He has been contributing to the KBCS broadcast and listening community for 33 years! KBCS really appreciates the support of Braddah Gomes and all our DJ Volunteers. Learn more about Braddah Gomes responding to some of the KBCS DJ Questionnaire:
Your most recent concert: I attended and helped emcee the Seattle Slack
Key Festival in November. It’s one of the best Hawaiian music concerts on the
US continent. It features some of the best guitar players, singers and hula dancers in our area and Hawai’i. We also enjoyed ono (delicious) Hawaiian food. And I got to talk with a lot of KBCS listeners!
Favorite 21st Century read (book, poem, essay, writing):
Bamboo Ridge 45th Anniversary Journal of Hawai’i Literature and Arts.
A huge comprehensive book of amazing short stories, poems and personal notes of the real Hawai’i. Read this you’ll learn how unique Hawai’i is, and why the people in the Islands of Aloha are so special. And why we talk kinda funny!?!?
What album do you love or really enjoy that might surprise your listeners:
No one single album. But check out these albums I love and have played songs from them over and over again on KBCS: Gabby Pahinui “Gabby”, C&K “Cecilio and Kapono”, Kalapana, “Kalapana”, Country Comfort, Keali’i Reichel “Kawaipunahele”, Bruddah Waltah “Bruddah Waltah & Island Afternoon “Hawaiian Reggae”, Olomana “Olomana”, The Brothers Cazimero “The Best of the Brother Cazimero”, Kuana Torres Kahele “Manookalanaipo, Kaua’i.”
And sooooo much more!
It was a blast to be a host on KBCS and a honor of a lifetime!
But it’s time to let other Host/DJ’s ride the Hawai’i Radio Connection Surf Board on the KBCS Air Waves!!!
Aloha…A Hui Hou (Until We Meet Again)
