How long have you been hosting your show?

Since April 2023, but Freedom Sounds was a podcast for 10+ years before that, and mixtapes for loved ones long before that.

What song do you most identify with, which inspired your energy to be a DJ? “Freedom Sounds” by Tommy McCook and the Skatalites on Studio One

Your most recent concert: Nduduzo Makhathini Trio – Shouts to Ben at KBCS for comping me tickets! What a great show.

Favorite recommended  albums for the evening: Culture’s “Two Sevens Clash”, Hank Mobley’s “Soul Station” with Wynton Kelly, and Frightnrs “More To Say Versions”

Favorite recommended album for sunset: Azymuth’s “Aguia Nao Come Mosca”

Favorite recommended song for the morning: “The Hump” by Patrice Rushen

Favorite recommended song for dawn: “Going Through The Veil – Becoming a Swan” by Joanna Brouk

What album do you love that might surprise your listeners? “Blue” by Joni Mitchell

What albums do you feel changed your life? “Mulatu Astatqe Ethiopiques 4: Ethio Jazz & Musique Instrumentale” on Buda Musique, “Buena Vista Social Club” blew my mind, and Rico Rodriguez’s “Man From Wareika” is right there with me always.

Pen, typewriter, computer, device: Typewriter – Gotta be a Royal Deluxe! Or ballpoint pen and dot ruled paper. I’m always writing down ideas or drawing images
