Swimming Lessons at Seattle Beaches
The weather is heating up and Seattle beaches will be open with lifeguards from 2-7pm until June 26th and from 12-7pm June 27-September 7th. Free swimming lessons are available to kids 6-16 at every lifeguarded beach. Signup through June 26 for lessons midday Monday through Friday or twice a week in the evenings. Registration at parksaquatics@seattle.gov.
Japan Fair at Meydenbauer Center
Japan Fair is a two day event showcasing Japanese art and culture at Bellevue’s Meydenbauer Center. The fair will feature live performances, exhibits, and cultural workshops. Musicians, artists, vendors, community organizations and businesses will at the fair that runs June 28 10-6pm and June 29 10-5pm. The event is free and open to the public.
Welcoming Centers at King County Libraries
King County Library offers a welcoming center for immigrants and refugees at various locations. At the Kent branch, you can receive information and resources in Arabic and English on Saturdays from 11 to 1pm. The welcoming center assists with information on basic services, education, employment, legal matters, and health. The program is available in Auburn, Bellevue, Federal Way, Kent, Redmond, and Tukwila.
