Remembering Geov Parrish

October 5, 2026 - 12:00 pm

We honor the life of a former KBCS contributor today.

Geov Parrish was a political commentator, activist, and journalist. In addition to his work with KBCS in the early 2000s, he co-founded Eat the State, a leftist media outlet that published in Seattle from 1996-2013.

Parrish contributed to many other progressive outlets including The Stranger, Seattle Weekly, KEXP, Alternet, Mother Jones, and In These Times. He died last week; here is a tribute to his life from The Cascadia Advocate.

Today, we rebroadcast Geov Parrish’s commentary “The Wealth Transfer Project,” which originally aired on KBCS on February 18, 2005.  More than twenty years later, his words are prescient.
