J Asarnow (they/them) is an audio producer and educator. Their work engages communities to tell their stories, and has taken the form of audio journalism, documentary, and sound art, including collaborative, site-specific works like The Corner: 23rd and Union and Saltwater Soundwalk. As an educator, they develop curricula and lead workshops for new producers in the craft of audio narrative. They founded KUOW’s RadioActive Youth Media, and have shared leadership at the Third Coast International Audio Festival, The Seattle Globalist, and Hollow Earth Radio. Their work has appeared on public radio outlets including KUOW, Snap Judgment and The World, has been displayed in museums including the Northwest African American Museum and the Wing Luke Museum, and has been recognized by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Awards, Webby’s, National Edward R. Murrow awards, Indigenous Journalists Association awards, and others.
