Mosaic MI is a monthly open mic and listening room on Mercer Island every first Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Aljoya Mercer Island. Free to attend. KBCS 91.3 is proud to sponsor this ongoing community gathering for songwriters and music lovers on the Eastside.
What is Mosaic MI?
Mosaic MI lives in the space between an open mic and a songwriting circle. Furthermore, Mosaic MI lives in the space between an open mic and a songwriting circle. It is something more intimate and more connected — a listening space as much as a performance space.”Musicians and non-musicians alike show up to move each other, to stay present, and to offer support. Songwriter Abby K founded Mosaic MI as a witnessing space for people who dare to step forward, show up visibly, and make art.
There is no advance sign-up list. Mosaic MI uses a lottery system — ten names are drawn throughout the night and each performer gets ten minutes to share their work. Original songs and covers both count. Lyrics and poems do too.
Sponsors Bread Winner, Aljoya, and Barrels Wine provide homemade bread, baked goods, and wine. You're welcome to bring something to share!
Who Can Participate?
Mosaic MI open mic is open to performers in high school or older. Audience members of all ages are welcome. No advance registration is required; show up as you are!
