About the Artist
The Suitcase Junket
The Suitcase Junket is Matt Lorenz — a one-man band who weds the sensibilities of early blues and rock and roll, the improvisational spirit of jazz, and a deep love of Tom Waits to meticulous, cultured songcraft. NPR calls him a “living, breathing, throat-singing, road-tested, avant-garde, one-man-band who is in a state of perpetual motion.” WBUR Boston describes his music as “astonishing.” Rochester City Newspaper once said his voice is “a cross between Hound Dog Taylor and a Tuvan throat singer who has swallowed a bird.”
About To Go On
Lorenz’s seventh album To Go On is his most acutely profound yet. Lorenz created the record in the wake of losing his sister, singer-songwriter Kate Lorenz. It is a tender, beautiful, and arrestingly moving internal dialogue with the departed. It is enormously resonant to anyone who has ever loved and lost someone. This Ballard Homestead show is its Seattle release celebration.
