About the Artists
Jeffrey Martin
Jeffrey Martin is a minister’s son who worked his way through school as a carpenter, earned a master’s degree in English, and spent four years teaching high school before music won the day. Portland Mercury once wrote that he might be the best songwriter in Portland — and called his songs capable of inflicting devastation on a much larger scale. No Depression called his album Dogs in the Daylight “as close to a masterpiece as a folk album by an emerging singer-songwriter can get.”
His fourth album Thank God We Left the Garden came out in 2023 on Portland’s beloved Fluff and Gravy Records. He recorded it alone in a shack in his backyard in southeast Portland over one winter. What began as demos became the album itself — sparse, intimate, and true. “I feel like I’ve only just learned how to sing,” Martin said. This is music that craves your full attention.
Jeffrey Martin has played Tractor Tavern before — catch up on his last Seattle appearance on the KBCS site.
Sam Weber
Sam Weber is a Canadian singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer, and recording engineer based in Portland, Oregon. His collaborations with Bahamas, Madison Cunningham, and producers Robbie Lackritz and Tyler Chester have earned millions of streams. His latest album, Sweet Grass Halo is out now on Big Secret Records.
