About Steve Poltz
Steve Poltz is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter, founding member of 90s indie-rock cult favorites The Rugburns, and the co-writer of Jewel’s 1996 megahit You Were Meant for Me — a song that spent over fourteen months on the American charts. The Rugburns blended punk, pop, folk, and what Poltz himself describes as the slightest hint of a whisper of the possibility of Swedish Christian Death Metal.
Since then, Poltz has built a hard-touring solo career that shows no sign of letting up. He follows the Willie Nelson school — do it till you’re dead. His recent albums include Shine On and Stardust and Satellites, both on Red House Records. Along the way, he has also accumulated a devoted following for his live shows — part concert, part comedy, all heart. His songs are as likely to make you laugh as they are to catch you off guard with something unexpectedly moving.
