Non Profit Aid Organizations in Palestine
While negotiations for a ceasefire between Israeli and Hamas officials are announced, 7,028 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza during this war according to Al Jazeera news from today. 2,913 of the dead are children. More than 1,709 of the fatalities, women. Over 1,405 Israelis have been killed. In addition, over 17,000 in Palestine have been injured. These numbers are from Aljazeera and Palestine Red Cross and are confirmed by Human Rights Watch. 50% of Palestinian residential units are destroyed. Most of the 65 sewage pumping stations are not operational. 11 water sanitation facilities are destroyed. (numbers from OCHA and Palestine Health Ministry)
Palestinian American activist, Linda Sarsour was in Vancouver, Washington on October 25th to speak at the Washington State Faculty and Staff of Color Conference. KBCS’s Yuko Kodama was there and recorded an excerpt of Sarsour’s response to an audience question about aid to Palestine.

Linda Sarsour: Intersectional Activism and Organizing
Linda Sarsour is an activist most known for her work in organizing the 2017 Women’s March, involving an estimated four million participants nationwide.
Today, she leads the organizations, MPower Change and Until Freedom. Sarsour discusses what intersectional organizing looks like, as well as what she has experienced as a Muslim activist in these times.
Sarsour penned, We Are Not Here to be Bystanders and a young readers book, We’re In This Together.
Valley and Mountain Fellowship will be hosting Linda Sarsour to speak at the event, Against Islamophobia & White Supremacy on Sunday, January 22nd at 3:30 pm at Seattle’s Rainier Arts Center. This is a part of Valley and Mountain Fellowship’s Set Us Free From Fear series.

Nobuko Miyamoto is an activist, music and dance artist, who found her political and artistic voice in the Asian American movement. As a child, she and her parents were incarcerated in the internment camps. Later, she performed on Broadway and has since produced many creative works. Over the past few decades, Miyamoto has been facilitating workshops to encourage her community to tell their personal stories. Maru Mora-Villalpando: The Department of Licensing and ICE
Maru Mora-Villalpando is an Undocumented Immigrant rights Activist, founder of NWDC Resistance and #Not1More Deportation. In January, 2018, she was served a letter from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ordering her to appear in immigration court at an unspecified date. Then, in February, 2018, the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) admitted that it furnished records to a request from ICE about Mora-Villalpando and other undocumented Washington residents. KBCS’s Yuko Kodama spoke with Mora-Villalpando last month about her experience with the DOL and how she expects the state to respond to the DOL’s actions.
