Dr. Benjamin Danielson – Medical Services and Community
The prominent pediatrician, Dr. Benjamin Danielson stepped down from his position as Medical Director at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic in the Central District. This was in protest of Children’s Hospital’s racially inequitable management practices, as written by Dr. Danielson in a South Seattle Emerald opinion piece from this week.

Black Panther Party Women Part 2
The Black Panther Party was active in Seattle from 1968 to 1976, and then as a black panther cadre until 1982. The party offered a free health clinic, screenings for sickle cell anemia and offered families transportation to state penitentiaries. Sickle Cell Awareness
Sickle cell disease is a disorder in which the body makes sickle-shaped red blood cells that cannot move easily through blood vessels. Sickle cell anemia is the most common form of sickle cell disease. It mainly affects people of African, Asian and Mediterranean descent. KBCS News Director, Sonya Green discuss sickle cell disease, treatment and challenges with Dr. Michael Bender, a healthcare provider. And Jason Davison describes what it’s like to raise kids with sickle cell anemia. Also Corey James talks about his life growing up with sickle cell disease.
