Sustainability Campaign Update – Q2
January 30, 2021 - 1:27 pm
Thanks to the support of our many new and long-time donors, KBCS ended the second quarter of our fiscal year on track with our fundraising goals. Our current fiscal year is July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021 and our second quarter ended December 31, 2020.
The KBCS Sustainability Campaign launched on July 1, 2020 with the goal of making KBCS financially sustainable following a sudden loss to supplemental funding from Bellevue College. The campus-wide budgetary cuts were put in place in the aftermath of the anticipated financial fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic (see original announcement).
The goal of the Sustainability campaign is to raise an additional $150,000 in our current fiscal year to ensure a balanced budget and to add 1,000 new monthly sustaining donors at an average of $12.50/month, which will help to ensure that the station can maintain the increase in funding it needs to remain viable in future years.
As of the end of the second quarter, KBCS is on track to reach its funding goal for the current fiscal year, however, we still need to increase our level of new monthly donors to ensure that the increase in funding will continue into the future. If you’ve yet to become a KBCS donor, please take a moment to help KBCS reach financial sustainability by becoming a monthly sustaining donor today.
Here is a break down of our progress towards our goals for this fiscal year and the KBCS Sustainability Campaign.
Update on Goal 1 – Add 1,000 new sustaining donors to the KBCS family of supporters
As of the end of the 2nd quarter of our fiscal year on December 31, 2020, KBCS has added 422 new sustaining donors. New sustaining donors are key to the success of the KBCS Sustainability Campaign, as they will help the station increase its funding in a measurable and reliable way. By adding and retaining 1,000 new sustaining donors at an average of $12.50/month before the end of the fiscal year, KBCS can increase its revenue by $150,000/year, the amount needed to make up for the supplemental funding cuts from Bellevue College. When you become a sustaining donor to KBCS you provide a monthly a monthly ongoing donation through a credit/debit card or directly through a bank account. This type of giving helps KBCS anticipate future revenue and better plan for the future.
Update on Goal 2 – Increase overall fundraising for KBCS by $150,000 over last fiscal year
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported KBCS already in this fiscal year and to all of our ongoing sustaining donors. With your help, KBCS has ended its second quarter with firm financial footing. KBCS completed the second quarter of its fiscal year having raised $599,512, just over half of our overall goal for this fiscal year. While there are still six months remaining in our current fiscal year, we’re confident that with your continued support and the support of new donors, we will be able to reach our overall goal.
Again, thank you to everyone who has given so far and to all of our ongoing sustaining donors. With your continued support, KBCS will end the fiscal year with a balanced budget and with the help of new donors we will create a more sustainable future for the diverse music and progressive news and information you count on.
