If you’re ready to clean out some old clothes, think about recycling with Threadcycle. The campaign is run by King County and Seattle Public Utilities to reduce textile waste. Damaged or worn out clothes, shoes, and linens can be reused or recycled. Look for a dropoff spot here.
Getting around by bike can be a healthy and green way to travel. But maintenance and repairs are needed to keep rolling safely. Bikeworks in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood offers repair parties on most Mondays and Thursdays for free or low cost help with your bike. They also take their bikemobile into different neighborhoods with repairs for free or on a sliding scale. South King County residents in need of a bike can get a free rebuilt bike and helmet from the organization. Check out bikeworks.org to find out more.
Looking for work can be a full time job and King County provides resources to help along the way. There’s support for layoffs, practice with interviews, training programs, and financial help with job search expenses. Online strategies for success classes are offered most Monday mornings. Go to worksourcekc.org to learn more.
