Thanks to our listeners, KBCS is able to provide a range of programming and audio production. Your contributions help KBCS continue to reach out to producers and radio resources for featured segments and programs to include in the KBCS broadcasts.

During the month of February, Black History Month, I chose to include this insightful and informative segment ‘Soundtrack to the Struggle’ at 6pm during the evening mix of Roots Rock + Soul.

“Soundtrack to the Struggle” is a daily feature of Black History Month on Iowa’s Jazz Station. Each show spotlights a jazz artist or an element of jazz that contributed to the fight for racial equality.

This Sevareid Award-winning series is hosted and co-written by Hollis Monroe, produced and co-written by Ron Adkins. Executive Producer, Dennis Green.

Many thanks to affiliate station KCCK and to producers, PRX and to you our listeners.

Current segments and archives of ‘Soundtrack to the Struggle’ are available at KCCK.
