Keep Cool in These Spaces
With temperatures going up over the summer, community centers around the county offer a place to cool down. The North and South Bellevue and Crossroads Community Centers offer air conditioning and King County Libraries are another place to cool down. Local senior centers are also open for people to avoid the heat. Check hours at your local center and stay cool!
Issaquah Salmon Hatchery
Take a visit to the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery in the city’s downtown. Open year-round, the hatchery has interactive displays, an aquarium room that shows the salmon life cycle, fish ladder with underwater windows and viewing decks over Issaquah Creek. There’s a native plant garden and a rain garden. Self-guided tours last 45-90 minutes. Free and open to the public.
Seattle Play Garden
Seattle Play Garden is hosting free summer play hours on Friday and Saturday from 9:30-1:30 throughout the summer. Children, youth, and adults with disabilities and their friends and families can join in the sessions. A Play Garden staff member guides the activities which include gardening, cooking, dance, art, and movement. Free play is an inclusive event, open to all with no registration required.
